24 November 2025.

The SOS_PRODEHESAMONTADO project, co-financed by the European Union through the Interreg VI-A Spain-Portugal Programme (POCTEP) 2021-2027, has held a new coordination meeting to advance the actions planned within the cross-border initiative aimed at the protection and sustainable management of the Iberian dehesa and montado.

During the meeting, the project partners—from various Spanish and Portuguese entities—reviewed the status of the planned activities and agreed on the next steps to strengthen technical cooperation and the implementation of strategic measures in the territory. The meeting also served to evaluate progress in conservation, digitisation and improving the resilience of these ecosystems, which are essential for biodiversity and the rural economy.

The SOS_PRODEHESAMONTADO project (0086_SOS_PRODEHESAMONTADO_4_E) seeks to promote new management tools, improve knowledge transfer between regions and encourage local participation in the preservation of the dehesa and montado, two agroforestry systems that are unique in Europe and key in the fight against climate change.

Those responsible highlighted the value of joint work between public administrations, research centres and local entities to ensure the success of the actions planned until 2027.
